Project Description

Our School Holiday & Half-Term Academies are aimed at children aged 5 to 12 years and are tailored to suit all sporting interests and abilities.

Each day of our Academies are tailored to ensure maximum participation in a FUN and SAFE environment. Our staff will ensure that all children make new friends, try something new each day and have their say on the Academy day-to-day activities.

All Academy staff hold enhanced CRB checks (DBS) and are trained in First Aid, Safeguarding Children and Child Protection.

All staff come from a school based PE teaching background; therefore each Academy day will have a ‘learning outcome’ based around:

  • ABC’s (Agility, Balance & Co-Ordination)
  • Communication Skills
  • Leadership
  • Team Building

All of our Academies are based around SPORTS, PERFORMING ARTS (Dance & Drama) & OUTDOOR ADVENTURE.

All Buzzers Academies operate 2 time options:

EXTENDED DAY – 8.30am to 5.30pm

ACADEMY DAY – 10.00am to 4.00pm

During our ‘Academy Day’ hours, we aim to teach the children a minimum of 10 sports/activities per day. The day is full-on, fast-paced and always with a learning outcome. The activities for each day will be tailored based on the age range of the children, the weather and the number of children booked on. Each day will start with a full group, team-building activity or ‘energiser’, where children will make new friends and be encouraged to share their opinion on what activities they want to be involved in during their time at the Academy. The active start also aims to get the children interacting with each other as early in to the day as possible. They will also be given a short guided tour of the whole venue, including our ‘Buzzers House Rules’. We aim to do as many ‘full group’ activities as possible and will encourage all children to try something new. Children will occassionally be split up in to teams or small groups, but the majority of the time they are able to stay with their friends/siblings/family.

Our ‘Extended Day’ hours are more relaxed and allow the children to have their say on what activities they take part in. The morning session is ‘Active’ based, whereas the afternoon session is more ‘Creative’ based i.e. Drama, Arts & Crafts and Movies.

With the unpredictability of the English weather, if (when!) it rains, all Buzzers Academy venues have an indoor facility. Please do not be put off by the rain…we will still make the day fun and active for all children!! We pride ourselves on having never cancelled a Buzzers day…therefore we are the ideal childcare solution!

Children are advised to bring with them:

  • Sports clothing and rubber soled sports trainers
  • Any medication (I will need written permission from yourself to administer any medication to your child)
  • A packed lunch and snacks for the day (we can only supply drinking water)
  • A warm and waterproof coat
  • Gloves
  • A change of any other item of clothing that may get wet or muddy
  • Sun hut and sun protection cream (for warmer months)
  • Wellington boots and a change of socks (Bromley venue only)
  • Swimming trunks/costume and a towel (Glass Mill venue only)
